“Cheval Blanc” historical 3rd Swiss 3-star restaurant

German chef Peter Knogl for the first time has been awarded a third MICHELIN star in his “Cheval Blanc” in Basel. After Heinz Beck (“La Pergola”, “Rome Cavalieri Hilton”), Knogl now is the second German star chef who works abroad, to win this top-class-rating.

The MICHELIN inspectors said: “3 stars: Outstanding cuisine, restaurant worth a look: Chef Peter Knogl, originally from Bavaria, has conquered Basel. He will surely find his way into your heart as well thanks to his delicate, perfectly presented classic cuisine with a Mediterranean touch. The classy setting of the Cheval Blanc is perfectly complemented by the discreet yet attentive service directed by maître d’ Grégory Rohmer.”

With “Cheval Blanc”, now a historical amount of three Swiss restaurants have been awarded three stars in Guide MICHELIN Switzerland 2016. Switzerland is actually the country with the highest star-rating per inhabitants! The new Swiss Guide MICHELIN is available since October 8th.

The restaurant describes: “Our chef Peter Knogl entices you on a journey of sun-kissed shapes and shades, tempting you with his newly interpreted french haute cuisine. The extensive wine list with over 800 positions holds an attractive selection of rare vintages and a large selection of wines from the Château Cheval Blanc, from where the restaurant gets its name.”
