We feel honoured and proud to be able to announce a new luxurious and extremely stylish ‘home’ for our Neuschwansteiner – the ever so famous “falk’s bar” at Munich’s five-star-hotel Bayerischer Hof!
During the Oktoberfest weeks, award winning chef de bar Meike Zimmermann recommends Neuschwansteiner.
Opened 1841, the ‘Bayerischer Hof’ is one of the most famous hotels in the Bavarian capital.
In fact, it was built and opened on the wishes of His Majesty King Ludwig I. of Bavaria, who wanted a first-class-hotel for his guests to stay.
They don’t have the motto “GOOD HOTELS HAVE A HISTORY. OUTSTANDING HOTELS MAKE HISTORY“ for nothing, as they truly have made history! Film stars, royals and international VIPs and jet-set were and still are amongst the guests.
Hospitality has a long tradition
Even King Ludwig I. himself stayed there! In 1897, Herrmann Volkhardt, a successful pastry chef, purchased the hotel. His family, through generations, still proudly keeps up the tradition of first-class hospitality.
Numerous awards speak for themselves
In 1974, the ‘Bayerischer Hof’ became a member of ‘The leading Hotels of the World’, and the first German hotel to be one of the “Preferred Hotels and Resorts Worldwide”. In 1991, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Bayerischer Hof, Falk Volkhardt was named the Service Management Award “Hotelier of the Year”. A year later, his hotel won the Goldener Schlüssel guide’s “Hotel of the Year” award. In the year 2000 the hotel won yet more awards. The Bayerischer Hof was named “Hotel of the Year” by Gault Millau and “Business Hotel of the Year” by Der Feinschmecker magazine.
When the building was severely destroyed during the war, miraculously the old and famous “Spiegelsaal” (“hall of mirrors”) from 1939 was the only room in the Bayerischer Hof to have survived unscathed. It is now home to famous falk’s bar, named after Falk Volkhardt. Its combination of tradition and modern times make it a favourite location of Munich’s nightlife scene. Which makes us very happy that “falk’s bar” is a new Munich home to our Neuschwansteiner.
Of course the history of “Bayerischer Hof” is strongly connected with the Bavarian Royals and therefore also with Neuschwanstein castle.
Neuschwansteiner CEO and founder Christian Seitz says:
“The ‘Bayerischer Hof is an institution, well known outside Bavaria and internationally for outstanding hospitality and a first choice. Of course we also feel a special connection through our brand ambassador, H.R.H. Prince Leopold of Bavaria.
The restaurants and bars are fabulous and it is always a pleasure during a Munich visit. We are proud to be served at ‘falk’s bar’, one of the best bars in Munich by award winning chief bar tender Meike Zimmermann!”
